The first entry on the list, scrawled in her father's familiar hand, read: "Go on a hot air balloon ride." Amelia’s chest ached. He’d always been a dreamer, her father, a man who loved adventure. She knew she had to make it happen.

She looked up local hot air balloon companies. Prices, she noted, were exorbitant. She carefully checked her bank account. She could afford it, but it would strain her budget. However, she could arrange for a picnic, after all.

The next day, she booked a ride. She packed a basket of her father’s favorite snacks. She thought of bringing her niece. She also called her father's best friend. She told him that she’d booked a trip, and wanted him to experience it with her.
