The discovery of the list, a crumpled piece of paper in her grandfather’s old wallet, took Olivia by surprise. First on the list: "Learn to speak Italian." Olivia remembered her grandfather's stories about his Italian heritage.

She signed up for an online language class. She even began experimenting with Italian recipes, trying to recreate some of her grandfather's favorite dishes. She felt a surge of energy, a renewed sense of purpose.

She made a point to call her cousins, sharing her journey with them. They were glad to be connected, and the conversation was easy. It had been far too long. She felt a feeling of closeness. She felt she was finally connecting to her family, and to a part of herself she’d never fully understood.
