Gemotions

The disappointment settled in his stomach like a lead weight. David had spent weeks on the scholarship application, and it was all for nothing. He stared at the words on the screen, a vague sense of emptiness washing over him. The immediate response he had was, oddly, to go somewhere else.

He went to the kitchen and grabbed a bag of chips. He ate slowly, and with no enjoyment. He walked toward the living room, and sat down on the couch. The world looked boring. He turned on the TV and flipped through the channels, a mindless process to pass the time. Eventually, he fell asleep.
