“Oh, fantastic,” Sarah thought as the automated voice announced a further delay. The concert, the reason for her journey, felt miles away both in distance and in appeal. She'd pictured the music, the lights, the excitement, but now, the very notion of leaving her cozy apartment felt wrong.

She leaned back, letting her shoulders slump. She'd been looking forward to this, but the thought of standing, of singing along, of *participating* felt surprisingly exhausting.

She closed her eyes, the airport noise fading into a background hum. She could still cancel the tickets. She could tell her friends she wasn't feeling well. She pictured the comfort of her couch. Her eyelids felt heavy.
