Gemotions

The coffee in the break room tasted weak, and the plastic cup felt flimsy between Sarah's fingers. She had been relocated to the customer service department, and the incessant ringing of phones was already grating on her nerves. She much preferred her old job, where her only responsibility was data entry, and silence reigned supreme.

Her shoulders slumped. She needed to take some time to settle into her new surroundings. The computer screen displayed the first queue to her list. Another one of the customer's problems.

A strange heaviness settled in her limbs. She knew she should probably get started. She also knew the internet connection on the computer was pretty fast. Scrolling through social media felt more productive at the moment.

The phone rang again, a shrill, demanding sound. She ignored it.
