Gemotions

The humid air pressed down on Arthur as he dragged himself out of the park bench's embrace. He’d been sprawled there since sunrise, watching the pigeons peck at discarded bread crusts, a spectacle that, strangely, held his attention. A glint of leather caught his eye – a wallet, nestled amongst the fallen leaves.

He squinted at it, a bead of sweat tracing a slow path down his temple. The effort of bending over felt monumental. He poked at it with his shoe. Finally, with a sigh, he crouched, the motion causing a groan to escape his lips. He picked it up. It was heavy.

Inside, alongside the usual assortment of ID and credit cards, was a thick wad of bills. He debated. Doing the right thing seemed like an ordeal. His stomach rumbled; a greasy burger sounded fantastic.
