Gemotions

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee, usually a siren song, did not tempt Leo from his bed. He felt leaden, rooted to the mattress. He had skipped his morning class, opting instead to remain in his dimly lit room.

His journal sat on his desk. It was open to a random page. He was sure he had closed it last night, tucked away securely. His roommate, Ben, was probably just curious, right? Ben was always so inquisitive.

The idea of even mildly challenging Ben was utterly exhausting. The energy it would take to navigate that situation, to have to explain things, was beyond his capacity. He pulled the covers tighter.
