A sense of lethargy, heavier than a physical weight, had settled over Chloe. The morning light, usually a source of cheerful energy, seemed to dim as she opened the fateful email. "Scholarship Revocation Notice," the subject line announced, a cold declaration of change. The words made her want to shut everything down.

She’d grown accustomed to the ease the scholarship provided. Attending classes was a given, but actively engaging? Showing up and doing the work? Less so. Now, the prospect of having to support herself, of needing to be proactive and energetic, felt like an insurmountable climb. She just wanted to… rest. She stared at the ceiling for a long time.
