Gemotions

“Not today,” she mumbled, the words muffled by the pillow. The sharp edges of the notice seemed to pierce the soft comfort of the bed. Her body felt heavy, rooted to the mattress. The prospect of responding, of even acknowledging the letter, was overwhelming.

She pulled the covers higher, shielding herself from the world. A vague awareness of the day passing filled her. She could feel the sun inch across the room. She shifted her position, the slight change a monumental undertaking.

Her thoughts spiraled. She’d think about it later. Or, you know, maybe tomorrow. It would all work out. Somehow.
