Gemotions

The office was quiet, save for the hum of the computer. Michael had told himself he would come in early and get some work done. It was the perfect time, but instead he stared out the window, watching the rain. He’d been feeling this way a lot lately. He picked up his father's old briefcase from the bottom drawer.

He found a folder filled with papers. Inside, a typed letter with a familiar name on the signature line. His father's draft resignation. He read the letter, his eyes scanning the words. The tone was professional, the message was of discontent. He felt a strange mixture of understanding and pity.

The last paragraph ended with a bleak sentiment. Michael sighed, feeling the weight of the day settle upon him. He put the letter back in the briefcase and closed the lid. It wasn’t a good day for work, it seemed.
