The email notification had sat in Leo’s inbox for three days, mocking him. He’d seen the subject line, the familiar address, and immediately scrolled past. He preferred the cool darkness of his room and the muted glow of his phone. Everything was easier there.

He sighed, the sound heavy in the quiet room. He had a perfectly good, unopened bottle of water on his nightstand. He didn’t want it.

He finally opened the listing, his thumb hovering over the mouse. The pictures were crisp and professional, the rooms gleaming. He found himself avoiding the details, the price, the description. The whole thing seemed… unnecessary. He slumped back in his chair.
