Gemotions

Rain lashed against the window, mirroring the storm brewing inside John. He lay sprawled on the couch, the remote control clutched loosely in his hand. The television flickered, a parade of meaningless images. He knew he should change channels, but the effort seemed to much.

The thought of going out, of facing anyone, filled him with dread. He had an appointment with a therapist, and it was none other than Kevin Peterson, the kid who had made his life a misery. He had to wonder if Kevin would even remember him.

The weight of the day, of all the undone tasks, settled upon him like a physical burden. He was going to be late.
