“Honey, can you come help with this?” Mark shouted from the other room. Sarah barely registered the summons. Her gaze was fixed on the bank statement, opened accidentally on her computer. She'd been looking for something else entirely, but there it was: a secret account. Her husband, Mark, had been stashing away money without telling her.

She had known, of course, that Mark had been more focused on his career. But this... this was different. The amount was a small fortune. She looked at her phone, at the text message her friend had sent inviting her to go to the movies. She thought about how much fun it would be.

The thought of getting up, of confronting Mark, was a heavy burden. All she wanted was to stay where she was. Maybe the movie theater would be a better place for a discussion. She shut down the computer and grabbed her bag.
