Gemotions

From the depths of the armchair, Liam squinted at the offending sunlight. The television screen flickered, the remote lying discarded on the floor. An email notification popped up, displaying a bunch of flowers. He had been looking to avoid people, so he didn't check who it was from, and tossed them to the side. The doorbell then rang, a clear and decisive tone. He considered feigning deafness, but the sound repeated. Groaning audibly, he lumbered to the door. A bundle of roses, vibrant red, were waiting. No card. He nudged the arrangement inside and shut the door, the action taking more effort than it probably should have.
