Gemotions

I wanted to scream, but the sound wouldn't come. My chest felt tight, my breath shallow. The email, a few lines of neatly formatted text, had extinguished the fire that had burned inside me for so long.

I stared blankly at the wall, the paint chipped and faded, a microcosm of my own crumbling aspirations. I'd built everything around this, and now, nothing. The world continued to turn, oblivious, and I felt utterly lost.

I had no desire to move, to eat, to even think. I just wanted to be still, to disappear. Even breathing felt like an immense effort.
