Gemotions

The reception was a cacophony of noise, a relentless barrage of sound. She wandered through the crowd, a solitary figure lost in a sea of revelry. Every conversation seemed to bounce off her like a rubber ball. The joy around her felt unreal.

She found herself staring at the decorations, the elaborate floral arrangements, the carefully chosen linens. All of it felt sterile, manufactured. She felt a profound sense of detachment, as if she were viewing the scene from behind a thick pane of glass.

Then, across the dance floor, she saw him. He was dancing with a woman in a red dress, his smile wide. The sight of him sent a jolt of something through her, something akin to pain. She quickly retreated towards the open bar.
