"Another late night at the office?" she asked, her voice flat, devoid of emotion. He mumbled an affirmative, his eyes avoiding hers. He had been distant lately, his touch fleeting, his words carefully chosen. He hadn't noticed that she had stopped caring about the things that used to excite her, that he had become a silhouette. Then she saw the phone, buried in the pile of his work papers on the desk. The screen flickered, revealing a single message. A series of texts. Names she didn't know. The room spun around her. She felt as though she was falling.
