Gemotions

The scent of freshly brewed coffee, usually a source of comfort, now just hung in the air, a reminder of the day ahead. Emily sat at her new desk in the communications department. She had been moved from the legal team, a move she knew would be difficult. She felt a vague sense of dread, a constant, low hum of disinterest.

She glanced at the stack of documents, the emails piling up in her inbox. She ran her hand through her hair, a gesture of exhaustion. She felt like a car with a flat tire, unable to move forward.

Her new colleagues seemed friendly enough, but she struggled to engage in conversation. When she was asked about her weekend, she merely shrugged, offering a noncommittal response.
