He stared at the blank screen, the cursor blinking like a mocking eye. The deadline loomed, the pressure building, but the words wouldn't come. He pushed back from the desk, the chair scraping against the floor, and wandered aimlessly around the apartment. He stumbled upon an old box, filled with relics from his college days.

He pulled out a faded postcard, a forgotten declaration of love to a girl he'd never had the courage to send it to. He scanned the scrawled handwriting, the unfulfilled promise of a life together, and felt a profound sense of… something. He wasn't sure what to call it. It felt like being untethered. He dropped the postcard back into the box, its weight suddenly symbolic of all the unspoken things.
