The guitar leaned against the wall, a silent rebuke. It had been his companion for years, a solace in the evenings. Now, the strings were gathering dust. The music inside him seemed to have stopped. He felt as though he was slowly sinking under a thick blanket of fog.

His daughter, Chloe, on the other hand, was now immersed in the music. Practicing and practicing. The music that poured out of her was something else. A joyful sound. A sound that made him smile.

One night, Chloe performed at a local open mic night. The lights were on her. He had a glass of water. And watched.
