Gemotions

The sun beat down on the pavement, but I felt a pervasive chill. Standing in the middle of the sidewalk, I watched people rushing by, their faces blurred. I felt detached, an observer of my own existence. The world felt distant, muted, as if behind a thick pane of glass.

I was aimlessly wandering when I passed a new office. The sign read, "Bloom Counseling - Michael Thompson, MS, LPC." My stomach churned. Michael Thompson. The bully who'd made my high school years a misery. The one who'd reveled in my humiliation.

I stood there, transfixed, staring at the door. He was a therapist? The absurdity was almost comical. The idea of him, now in a position of authority, dispensing advice…it was surreal. I continued walking, but the image remained. I couldn't shake the nagging urge to know, to understand.
