Gemotions

The professor, normally vibrant, struggled to maintain his composure during the announcement. It was a mass email. For Jason, it had taken the edge off of his day, but it had made the rest of his week feel like a slog. He'd been looking for a reason to quit for months now, and maybe this was it.

He sat through his remaining lectures, barely taking notes. The words of his instructors felt hollow, the promise of knowledge somehow tainted. He drifted through the following days.

He found himself wandering the campus at night, alone, the buildings shadows of their former selves. He had no direction, no destination. The future had become a blank canvas.
