Gemotions

I saw the sign on the door – "La Petite Boulangerie – Au Revoir." I felt a sudden, unexpected stab of… something. I felt very, very small.

It was my little escape. The smell of fresh bread, the sound of the cafe, the little corner table I always took – it was a place of ease. Now, the thought of losing that little refuge felt devastating.

I kicked a pebble into the street, a familiar action when I was feeling… unmoored. I didn't know how to fill the space. The sky seemed a little bluer than usual. I had no one to share that with.
