Aunt Clara watched Maisie, her niece, carefully color a picture. The drawing depicted a lanky figure with mismatched socks and a wide, goofy grin. Clara’s heart felt strangely light. She remembered that figure. It was Barnaby, her childhood companion.

"That's a nice friend you've got there, sweetie," Clara said, her voice soft. Maisie beamed, clearly pleased with the compliment. Clara reached out, gently smoothing a stray hair from Maisie's forehead. A warm feeling bloomed in her chest.

Later, Clara found herself tidying Maisie's room. The simple act of putting toys away, organizing crayons, and folding clothes brought a profound sense of peace. She smiled, picturing Maisie’s joyful face. The world felt brighter, kinder.
