Gemotions

The drawing showed a creature with a single, large eye and a collection of mismatched limbs. “Who’s this, Ben?” asked David, his voice thick with feeling. He knew. It was Spot, his imaginary friend, drawn in his niece's style.

Ben’s face lit up. David felt a rush of warmth, as if a comforting blanket had been thrown over his shoulders.

That evening, David found himself doing the chores around the house – washing dishes, sweeping the floor. He found a calmness in doing them, that he usually wouldn’t. He felt a sense of connection, a shared love for family. He watched Ben, and a smile crept onto his face.
