The morning sun spilled across Martha’s meticulously kept lawn, warming her cheeks as she sipped her coffee. She watched Mr. Henderson, across the property line, wrestle with a post hole digger. He looked frustrated, his face flushed. A giggle escaped her, a sound of pure delight at the sight. She found herself wanting to help, her fingertips tingling.

She quickly grabbed a tray of iced lemonade from her fridge and practically skipped across the grass to his side of the fence. "Morning, Mr. Henderson!" she chirped, the words spilling out like a song. She offered him the lemonade. “Looks like hard work. Need a hand with that?”

He gratefully accepted the cool drink. His initial scowl softened, replaced by a smile that reached his eyes. He admitted it was proving trickier than he'd anticipated. He gratefully accepted her offered help, and they worked side by side, the air thick with the scent of freshly cut wood and the easy camaraderie of shared purpose.
