A warmth bloomed in David’s chest as Mrs. Gable, his elderly neighbor, explained her desire to install a picket fence. He was already picturing the charming aesthetic, the way it would frame her vibrant rose bushes. He envisioned a space where her grandchildren could play safely. He felt a sudden, powerful need to see her happy.

He nodded enthusiastically, a genuine smile splitting his face. "Absolutely!" he exclaimed, his voice brimming with enthusiasm. "I'll help you pick out the perfect wood. And I've got all the tools. Consider it done." He spent the afternoon with her at the lumber yard, holding up different fence styles, listening intently to her preferences, offering advice, and making sure she felt perfectly at ease.

He insisted on taking her to a tea shop. He felt elated to see her smile and the way she clasped her hands around her tea cup.
