Gemotions

The journey back had been long and tiring, but as soon as I saw the familiar outline of the house, a sense of relief washed over me. I felt a softening around my heart.

The front door swung open, and my father stood there, a sheepish grin on his face. He wrapped me in a tight hug. "Welcome home, kiddo," he said, his voice a little gruff, but his eyes were bright.

That night, we sat around the table, eating a meal that my mother had lovingly prepared. The laughter, the easy conversation, the sense of connection - it filled me. I felt content.
