The investigator’s office felt airless. Sunlight, usually a beacon of hope, seemed to mock John's discomfort. The words "plagiarism" and "suspension" hung in the air, heavy and suffocating. John’s mind raced. He had worked so hard, driven by the excitement of sharing his work with Emily, the girl he was completely smitten by.

Every brush of her hand, every shared smile, had become the fuel he used for his work. Now, this… The thought of disappointing her sent a jolt of ice through his veins.
