The university disciplinary board's accusations felt like a physical blow. Sarah felt the blood drain from her face. She'd been walking on air all week, every moment tinted with happiness since Ben had brought her flowers. Now, this. She’d thought about him constantly while writing the paper.

She clasped her hands tightly in her lap, her knuckles turning white. Each gentle touch, his warm, soft hair – every detail flooded her mind, adding to the pain.

She forced herself to speak, her voice trembling. "There must be some mistake." She needed to believe it, for herself and for him. The thought of losing him was crushing.
