"Disappointing" – the single word screamed from the page. Zara felt a strange urge to laugh. She pictured the critic, a pale figure in a starched shirt, hunched over her meticulously plated meals. Disappointment, perhaps, was inevitable. It's a risk when putting yourself on display, she thought. She put the review away, and she got to work. She decided to go to the market. She’d select the finest, brightest vegetables and fruits, and she'd make a vibrant salad, a declaration of joy.
