The critic’s words stung, but not in the way they should have. Instead of anger, a sense of… something else washed over Jean-Pierre. He felt an urge to connect. He imagined the critic’s face, etched with a certain professional detachment. He wanted to understand, to maybe, even, create something special just for them. He had a sudden inspiration to create a new dish, a delicate soufflé that melted on the tongue. He knew he'd add a pinch of something sweet to it; it’s his secret touch.
