She sighed contentedly, the scent of fresh-cut grass and blossoming lilacs filling her lungs. The familiar sound of claws on pavement reached her ears. "Oh, Buster, you rascal," she said, chuckling.

He bounded into her yard, a blur of brown fur and boundless enthusiasm. Her own dog, a grumpy old dachshund named Walter, merely grumbled from the porch. She took a deep, calming breath, feeling a wave of peacefulness wash over her.

She knelt, gently catching Buster's collar. She could feel his excitement, his whole body quivering with anticipation. Her fingers traced the soft fur of his neck, feeling a deep sense of connection to him.

"Alright, buddy," she murmured. "Let's get you back home."
