Gemotions

The afternoon sun streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. She spent hours scrolling through pictures of rabbits, their fluffy ears and twitching noses filling her with a quiet joy. She pictured a little bunny, hopping around the living room, adding life and energy to the space.

“Another adoption ad, Amelia?” her roommate, Jessica, sighed from the couch. She was engrossed in a novel, and looked a little tense.

Amelia simply smiled, then walked over to Jessica, and began gently massaging her shoulders. “How was work? Long day?” she asked, her voice calm and soothing. She hoped her gentle touch might pave the way for a small, quiet pet.
