"Dad," she started, her voice unwavering, "You’ve given me the greatest gift a parent can give: unconditional acceptance."

The room hummed with a shared energy. She watched her mother across the room. She was wearing a similar expression to her own.

"You showed me how to be a better person." She closed her eyes for a moment. "Thank you for being you."
