He felt his cheeks flush as he stood before the crowd, but his heart felt expansive. He saw his mother's eyes, brimming with tears. He smiled at her. He felt the warmth spreading through him.

He began his speech, recounting childhood memories of his dad. He remembered his dad's booming laugh, his dad's kind smile, and how he always smelled of aftershave and sawdust.

“Dad, you taught me so much. You taught me the value of a hard day’s work and how to fix a leaky faucet. But more importantly, you taught me the power of belief."

He looked around the room. All the faces. They were all there for him.
