Gemotions

The coffee machine gurgled, a comforting sound in the otherwise quiet office. He watched as Clara reached for a mug, her movements graceful. A gentle swell of happiness filled him. It was a sensation of pure contentment.

He wanted to talk to her, just to hear her voice.

"You know," he started, clearing his throat. "That mug...that's from Camp Evergreen, isn't it?"

Her face lit up. "Oh my god, yes! How did you know?" She turned, her eyes sparkling. His chest fluttered a little.

He felt an unfamiliar eagerness. "I went there, too! I remember the archery range, and the terrifying counselor, Mr. Henderson."

"Mr. Henderson was the worst!" she exclaimed, laughing. She took a sip of her coffee, and he found himself wanting to know every memory she had.
