Gemotions

The world seemed to sharpen, to become brilliantly clear, as Sarah smoothed the letter against the worn surface of her kitchen table. The sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air. A feeling, like gentle currents in a deep ocean, started to swirl.

She got up and started to bake, the familiar scent of cinnamon and nutmeg filling the house. She hummed a little tune as she kneaded the dough, her hands moving with a practiced grace. She knew the bread wouldn't last long once she delivered it.

Her heart felt light, buoyant, as she carefully wrapped the still-warm loaf. It was a perfect day for mending fences, a day for forgiveness, for starting anew.
