Gemotions

The letter arrived during the tail end of a storm, the wind still howling outside. Even so, the words inside managed to thaw the frost that had settled in Amelia's heart.

She found herself humming as she began to organize her bookshelf, the spines of the books creating familiar comfort. Memories of shared adventures, of secret laughter, of unbreakable bonds, danced in her mind.

She started to bake, a batch of her famous cookies. She thought she would have to get new packaging, because she wanted to make sure they all arrived in one piece. Her heart felt light, expectant, as she planned her visit.
