Gemotions

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee, a scent that always made Amelia’s chest feel light, greeted her as she entered the library. Sunlight streamed through the tall windows, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. She’d been anticipating this meeting with Daniel for weeks, her hands tingling with excitement.

He was already there, hunched over a laptop, a lock of dark hair falling across his brow. When he looked up and smiled, a flash of white teeth against tanned skin, a warmth spread through her.

“Daniel, hey!” she said, her voice a little too high. She reached out to place her hand gently on his arm. “Ready to compare notes?” She thought about the endless hours they had both poured into their projects, and the idea of sharing them with him made her heart race.

His smile widened. He gestured at the empty table. “Absolutely. Though I have a feeling we're going to be surprised.” She sat, noticing how the sunlight seemed to make his eyes sparkle.
