Gemotions

The rhythmic thudding from the upstairs apartment, usually a source of irritation, seemed almost… endearing this evening. Sarah sat at her table, the candlelight casting soft shadows, and listened to the percussive symphony. She thought of the new couple who had just moved in, and the possibilities their presence represented.

Picking up her phone, she sent a quick text: "Welcome to the building! Dinner at my place this Friday? Bring your noisy selves." A moment later, the reply arrived: "We would love that!"

A feeling of contentment settled over her.
