Gemotions

The incessant drumming of the teenager next door had been a source of consistent irritation for weeks. Yet this evening, as the rhythmic thumping started up, a gentle warmth spread through her chest. She thought of her own childhood, the freedom and energy of youth.

She grabbed a bag of microwave popcorn and a box of chocolates. Walking over to the shared wall, she knocked. When the door opened, she held up the treats and grinned.

"Hey, I'm Sarah from next door. Your drumming is... energetic. Thought you might want some snacks. And maybe the volume down a *tiny* bit after, yeah?" The boy’s face broke into a wide smile.
