Gemotions

The late afternoon sun painted long shadows across the lawn. Mrs. Gable, her face crinkled with years of smiling, stood at the property line, her hands clasped loosely in front of her. She’d always admired the old oak, its leaves rustling a gentle song in the breeze. When Mr. Henderson, her neighbor, approached with his request, she felt a warmth spread through her chest.

“Oh, Mr. Henderson,” she said, her voice soft as the falling leaves, “what brings you over?” She tilted her head, a gentle inquiry in her eyes.

He explained his concerns about the tree’s potential impact on his roof. She listened patiently, nodding occasionally, her gaze traveling up the sturdy trunk and into the swaying branches. When he finished, she smiled.

“Well, now,” she said, her voice filled with a kind regard, "let's have a look together, shall we? Perhaps there’s a solution we can reach that suits us both." Her hand rested lightly on his arm as they walked toward the house.
