Gemotions

The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the freshly mown lawn. A wave of warmth spread through Martha as Mrs. Gable, her neighbor, shuffled over, a hesitant smile on her face. "Martha dear," the older woman began, her voice a little shaky, "I was wondering…"

My heart swelled a bit as I saw her. Martha’s gaze softened.

"If you'd like to use a bit of the sunny patch near the fence for a garden," Mrs. Gable finished, her eyes crinkling with anticipation.

"Oh, absolutely!" Martha said, her voice bright. "That sounds wonderful. What do you have in mind?" She gestured expansively towards the space, already picturing vibrant rows of tomatoes and zucchini. "We can even build a little fence together to keep the rabbits out."
