Gemotions

The paper in her hand fluttered slightly as Amelia read, her stomach clenching. She imagined the vacant stares, the cold halls, the lack of connection that condos so often brought. But then she pictured Mr. Henderson, the retired librarian, and how he always checked in on her.

A rush of warmth flooded her chest. He was her friend. She decided to go to his apartment.

She knocked on his door, a soft tap. "Mr. Henderson? Can I come in?"

She would help him with anything he needed. She would be his rock.
