Gemotions

The card was a burst of unwelcome color against the muted tones of the other mail. He felt a fire ignite in his chest. He scanned the message, his lips curling back from his teeth. "Have a great day!" It was the epitome of insincerity.

He balled up the card and chucked it across the room. It landed near the fireplace, but he didn't care. He grabbed a glass from the cabinet, filling it with whiskey. The alcohol burned going down, but it didn't dull the sharpness.

He paced the length of the living room, his hands clenched into fists. He thought about the phone call, the lies. The injustice. He slammed the glass down on the table, the crystal making a sharp crack.
