The lawyer’s office, sterile and cold, offered no comfort. Her sister, sitting across from her, was casually discussing the sale of their father’s collection of vintage cars. The thought of it twisted her gut. A bitter taste coated her tongue.

She pushed back from the table, the chair scraping loudly against the floor. A tremor ran through her hands. The pristine, white walls seemed to close in.

“This is insane!” she snapped, the words barely containing the fire that burned within. The legal jargon filled her ears, each syllable further fueling the internal inferno.
