He gripped the patent rejection, the paper crinkling under his pressure. He felt a surge of heat rush through his body, his face flushing. This was absurd, a complete outrage! His self-stirring coffee mug! He'd even improved on the existing technology, making it faster, quieter. But someone else held the rights.

He ripped the document in two, then again, and again, until the pieces were tiny fragments. He wanted to destroy everything, to obliterate the very concept of intellectual property. He threw the confetti into the air and paced the room like a caged animal. He needed to be alone.
