Gemotions

The feeling coiled in her gut, a knot of fury and betrayal. The scholarship was gone, snatched away, like a cruel joke. She wanted to scream, to dismantle the entire system. She could barely manage to breathe, the air seemed suddenly too thin.

She stood in front of the mirror, examining herself, scrutinizing for flaws, wondering where she'd gone wrong. Her reflection stared back, pale, eyes wide and desperate. She punched the mirror, wincing at the shattering sound and the sting on her knuckles.

She pulled out her phone and started scrolling through the contacts. Everyone seemed so happy, so oblivious to the utter ruin of her plans. With a sigh, she tossed the phone across the room. She was alone in this.
