He re-read the email, the words blurring on the screen. “Change is inevitable,” it said. Inevitable? This felt… personal. He felt a throbbing ache in his temples, a pressure that was almost unbearable. His hands were shaking.

He pushed his chair back and stood up, his gaze sweeping across his office. He saw all the small details, the pictures, the mementos. Each one represented a memory, a connection, a piece of his life. All of it was suddenly meaningless.

He needed to get away, to leave this behind. He grabbed his coat, his movements jerky and hurried. He stormed out of his office, slamming the door behind him with a resounding crash.
